The second round is underway in the 2025 NBA playoffs, and it’s been a great run for road teams. Lower-seeded teams are 5-0 so far in the second round, winning all those games on the road. The Pacers went up 2-0 against the shorthanded Cavaliers on Tuesday night as Tyrese Haliburton hit a game-winning 3-pointer. Then, the Warriors took down the cold-shooting Timberwolves in Game 1 of their series, doing so after Stephen Curry exited in the first half with a hamstring strain. Steve Kerr said the Golden State superstar is unlikely to play in Game 2.
Tuesday’s surprising results came after a chaotic pair of games on Monday. The Knicks erased a 20-point lead against the Celtics in Boston and pulled out an overtime win. The Nuggets, meanwhile, completed a frantic late comeback as Aaron Gordon’s game-winning 3-pointer gave the Thunder their first postseason loss this year. Knicks-Celtics and Nuggets-Thunder continue Wednesday night as the home teams try to recover.
The 2025 playoffs mark the first time all four Game 1s in the second round have been won by road teams.
The Thunder remained the title favorites (+130 at Caesars) as the second round began.
