2025 Texas A&M spring football preview: Cashius Howell expected to lead the way at DE

1. Texas A&M lost two defensive ends from its 2024 team that could go in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. However, neither of them put up big numbers down the stretch of last year’s campaign and there’s hope that the new guys may be less talented but more productive.

2. That hope in spring ball starts with Cashius Howell who is strong, bendy, has some get off, and can convert speed to power. He had a good year coming off of the bench and then had six pressures, two sacks, and an interception versus an outmanned USC offensive line in the bowl game. He can use his hands to free himself up versus the run.

3. However, he is not a huge guy, and the Aggies lacked the depth to rotate people late in that game. In turn, that meant that the pass rush as a whole got worn down and the Trojans came from 17 back to win throwing the ball. If bigger tackles get their hands on him, he gives ground. It would also help if he cut down on flags in the spring.
