EA Sports College Football 25 garnered a lot of hype in 2024. Selling millions of copies, EA revived its beloved franchise after a decade-long hiatus. With College Football 26 set to drop this summer, fans have high expectations for the game. Here are seven features that they think will be a great addition to the new game.
After years without a college football game, CFB 25 was a slam dunk for EA Sports. It cashed in on nostalgia and pent-up demand. But now, with the next installment scheduled to be released this year, EA is under a lot of pressure.
Fans have been vocal about what worked and what didn’t in the previous game to make sure the new one meets their expectations.

7 Features That Fans Think EA Sports College Football 26 Should Have
1) Shifting Weather
In the previous game, even when a game kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and ends by 7:00 p.m., the sun still blazes like it’s noon. That was a glaring issue in CFB 25. Fans want weather that shifts, rain rolling in mid-game, or dusk settling over the field.
2) Trophy Room
Dynasty Mode fans have been begging for a Trophy Room since CFB 25 launched. In older games, it was a slick way to track your program’s legacy, every championship, every milestone. Even if it’s just basic stat tracking, like a list of Heisman winners, it’d add a lot of depth.
3) High School Games in Road to Glory
Road to Glory in CFB 25 was fine but forgettable. Fans want a mode where they could play a high school tournament to shape their player’s future. With MLB The Show adding college teams, this feels like a no-brainer for CFB 26.
4) Re-Hauls to the Coaches
CFB 25 nailed player likenesses but left coaches as generic stand-ins. That’s why fans are pushing for big names like Dabo Swinney or Kirby Smart on the sidelines. If that’s too pricey, it should at least feature customization options. More hairstyles, outfits, and faces would stop every coach from looking like a carbon copy.
5) A Transfer Portal That Has Some Substance
In CFB 25, the transfer portal felt flat. Too few players moved, and the talent pool thinned out over time. Fans want a system where stars like Carson Beck switch teams, keeping the portal chaotic and impactful deep into Dynasty Mode.

6) Generic Stadiums for Team Builder
Team Builder is a fan favorite, but using real school stadiums for your custom squad kills the mood for many. Fans aren’t asking for fully editable arenas yet, just a handful of neutral, generic stadiums. It’s a simple fix that’d make the created team feel less like a knockoff.
7) An NIL Budget for custom teams
Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules college football today, but it’s absent in CFB 25. Fans want it tied to recruiting. Win big games or hit a bowl streak, and your NIL cash grows, boosting your ability to land top talent. It’d streamline the system, ditching outdated stats like Academic Prestige for something modern and dynamic.
