NFL Week 16 scores: Jets lose 19-9 after Rams explode for 13 points in 4th quarter

For a little while on Sunday, it looked like the New York Jets were finally cooking. The connection between Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams was stronger than ever. Rodgers showed off a move or two that looked like it was from a younger version of him. The Jets held onto the ball for nearly 16 minutes in a row, from the end of the 2nd quarter through the first half of the third quarter. They were up 9-6 over the Los Angeles Rams after three entire quarters.
And then things fell apart for the Jets, as they so often have. Despite holding on to the ball for so long, they only managed to score three points on the Rams during that time. Rodgers and Adams had some communication problems. Rodgers started getting more and more banged up as the game went on.
The 4th quarter is when the Rams exploded and the game really got away from the Jets. Or, put another way, the Rams scored 13 points (a touchdown plus a field goal) in the final quarter while the Jets couldn’t get so much as a field goal in the entirety of the second half. The Rams won 19-9, and the Jets can only look back at the squandered opportunities to get a meaningful win over a competitive team. But on the bright side, they’ve only got two more games left to play.

Commanders CB Marshon Lattimore has been called for 3 defensive pass interference penalties in the third quarter, making him 1 of 2 players to have DPIs in a single quarter in the last 25 seasons.
First-half line for Michael Penix: 9/16 for 110 yards. Receivers had several drops, including Kyle Pitts losing control of a pass at the goal line that the Giants turned into an interception. Respectable beginning for Penix; ATL 17, NYG 7 at half.
