Outspoken former Longhorn Zac Swanson among several exes Texas will face on Arizona State’s roster

AUSTIN, Texas — When Texas returns to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Peach Bowl and a College Football Playoff quarterfinal against Arizona State on Jan. 1, it will be a low-key reunion with several former Longhorns now playing for the Sun Devils.

The list of former Longhorns on the ASU roster includes safety Xavion Alford, receiver Jake Smith, receiver Troy Omeire, defensive end Prince Dorbah, defensive end J’Mond Tapp and outspoken defensive tackle Zac Swanson along with defensive backs coach Bryan Carrington, who served as director of recruiting at Texas under Tom Herman and helped recruit Bijan Robinson before moving into coaching.

Alford, a first-team All-Big selection, and Dorbah (2.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks) are starters, and Swanson (2.0 TFL, .5 sacks), Smith (six catches, 91 yards) and Omeire (three catches, 19 yards), who has been slowed by a preseason ankle injury, are rotational players. Tapp is still working his way into the rotation.
