Updating Lady Vols rankings in college basketball polls after 11-0 start under Kim Caldwell

Lady Vols basketball moved up in the rankings this week after winning three games away from Knoxville.

Tennessee (11-0) is ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press poll, moving three spots up from last week’s No. 18 ranking. It has been ranked in the top 20 for three straight weeks in Kim Caldwell’s first season. The 11 straight wins mark the Lady Vols’ best start to since going 15-0 in 2017-18.

Tennessee won its first true road game against Memphis 90-75 and then won both its games at the West Palm Beach Classic in a four-day span. The Lady Vols beat Richmond 92-67 and dominated Tulsa 102-61 in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday and Saturday.

UT also continues to climb the NCAA NET rankings and is now No. 23 after blowout wins on the road and at a neutral site. It was No. 25 last week.

Tennessee has a week break before playing its final nonconference game against Winthrop at home on Dec. 29 (2 p.m. ET, SEC Network+).

The Lady Vols reentered the polls on Dec. 9 after wins over Florida State and then-No. 20 Iowa. That marked the first time they were a ranked team in over a year. Before entering the rankings this season, the last time Tennessee was ranked was Week 4 of the 2023-24 season, which was released Nov. 27, 2023.

The Lady Vols started last season ranked, but fell out of the AP poll on Dec. 4, 2023 after dropping to 4-4. Before getting ranked this season, Tennessee had only been ranked for 10 of the previous 45 weeks of the AP Top 25 since being ranked the entire 2021-22 season.
