While College Football is wrapping up and College Basketball is underway, the College Baseball season is right around the corner. The LSU Baseball team is just over a month away from the start of their season as they’ll take on Purdue Fort Wayne on February 14th to start the year.
This offseason, the LSU Baseball team went all in after losing in the Chapel Hill Regional as Jay Johnson is determined to return to Omaha.
The Tigers brought in the top class of transfers, JUCO players, and true freshmen this offseason according to Baseball America. Among the transfers were 9 players ranked in Baseball America’s top 100 transfers and 11 players ranked in the Top 500 MLB Draft Prospects.
The headliners of Jay Johnson’s haul are Daniel Dickinson (#2 transfer), Anthony Eyanson (#4 transfer), Devin Sheeran (#8 transfer), Jacob Mayers (#17 transfer), and five other key pieces for the upcoming season.
LSU also returns massive pieces like Jared Jones, Steven Milam, and Chase Shores making this a true championship roster. Perfect Game USA agrees ranking LSU as the 2nd best team in College Baseball behind Texas A&M.
The Tigers were already ranked as the top team in Baseball America’s Way Too Early Top 25 so LSU adds another impressive ranking.
The SEC is set to be absolutely loaded especially as Texas and Oklahoma join the Conference as 10 SEC Schools crack the Top 25. Given how talented this group is, the expectation has to be that LSU hosts a Regional, a Super Regional, and returns to Omaha.
