Marquette moves up one spot in this week’s Associated Press top 25 college basketball poll

The Marquette men’s basketball team has moved up in the first polls of 2025.

The Golden Eagles checked in at No. 7 in the Associated Press top 25 that was released Monday, up one spot from last week.

MU (13-2, 4-0 Big East) is sixth in the USA TODAY coaches poll.

Who did Marquette play last week?

After a 10-day break, the Golden Eagles picked up a Big East road win at Providence, 78-50, on New Year’s Eve.

Then, back at Fiserv Forum, MU held on for a 79-71 victory over Creighton to reach 4-0 in the Big East for the first time since the 2012-13 season.

Who does Marquette play this week?

MU has just one game this week when it faces a friskier-than-expected Georgetown (12-2, 3-0) on Tuesday at Fiserv Forum.
