FSU Baseball: Jamie Arnold tabbed Preseason Pitcher of the Year by Perfect Game

TALLAHASSEE — With the college baseball season 36 days away, the preseason awards and honors have begun. Florida State baseball’s ace Jamie Arnold is expected to be featured on every preseason All-American team after he was a first-team All-American as a sophomore. Perfect Game included Arnold on its preseason AA first-team and deemed him the Preseason Pitcher of the Year:

Last season, Arnold produced a 2.98 ERA and 159 strikeouts over 105.2 innings pitched. He walked just 26 batters and limited opponents to a .224 average. His 159 strikeouts were fifth in program history and the most since Paul Wilson – the No. 1 overall pick in the 1994 MLB Draft – struck out 163 in 1994.

The southpaw was also the Most Outstanding Player of the Tallahassee Regional and participated in the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team training camp during the summer. Arnold is currently projected to be a top-five pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. For more on the Seminoles’ ace, click here.

No other Seminoles were featured on PG’s preseason All-American teams but a pair of freshmen were highlighted in the top freshmen list. Catcher Hunter Carns is ranked the No. 2 freshmen in the country after a powerful fall. First baseman Myles Bailey is ranked No. 27.

Carns is a physical right-handed bat that is also athletic enough to play some outfield. He produced four homers in the final three scrimmages of the fall. Link Jarrett has called him the ‘most advanced’ freshman hitter he’s worked with and praised his quick development defensively. Bailey is a local product from Lincoln High School. He could have the most raw power in his recruiting class.
