Shamar Avance scored a game-high 24 points and the 20th-ranked Southeastern Community College men’s basketball team built a big early lead and coasted to a 79-57 win over Western Iowa Tech on Wednesday night at Loren Walker Arena.
The Blackhawks blew out to a 46-21 lead by halftime to put the game away.
Keinan McFarlande added 14 points for SCC, while Isaiah Sullivan and Mekhi Grant each had 12 points. West Burlington High School graduate Brady Martin finished with seven points, six assists, three rebounds, one block and one steal and Burlington High School graduate Merquiche Lewis contributed four points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Prophet Fields finished with four points and Jalen Hooks had two points.
Hooks led the Blackhawks with nine rebounds, while Avance had eight boards.
SCC (15-1) hosts No. 22 Triton College (10-3) at 7 p.m. Saturday at Loren Walker Arena in West Burlington.
