Oregon basketball continues to see NCAA Tournament projections solidify as a top seed

As the Oregon Ducks head into week 11 of the men’s college basketball season, the program has cemented itself to be in a position to secure a favorable draw in March’s NCAA Tournament and potentially even play close to home in the Pacific Northwest. The No. 13 ranked Ducks are projected by most of the major NCAA Tournament projections to have a top-three seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

At 15-2 on the season and an NCAA NET Rating inside the top 25, the Ducks have an early NCAA Tournament resume that profiles them as one of college basketball’s top seeds. CBS Sports’ latest bracketology suggests the Ducks are projected to stay out west in the West Region as the No. 2 seed. Oregon is currently projected to play in Seattle against No. 15 seed New Mexico State. The Ducks jumped a seed line in this week’s projections, improving its position from last week’s No. 3 seed. Should Oregon advance in the latest CBS projections, they’d face the winner of No. 7 seed Georgia and No. 10 seed New Mexico.

The Ducks already hold a 7-2 record against Quad 1 opponents this season, more wins than they’ve had in the regular season since the NCAA Tournament started releasing the date during the 2019-20 season.

FOX College Hoops’ latest bracket forecast by Mike DeCourcy also has the Ducks playing in the West Region, with a No. 2 seed projection. This would indicate the Ducks would also be playing in a first and second-round pod in Seattle. In the FOX projections, Oregon would play No. 15 seed Utah Valley with the right to play either No. 7 seed Arizona or No. 10 seed Vanderbilt.

ESPN’s own bracket projections have the Ducks back in the West Region playing as the No. 3 seed. Oregon would face No. 14 seed Utah Valley and then play the winner of No. 6 Utah State vs. No. 11 seed Missouri. These games would also be played in Seattle.

The NCAA Tournament’s Seattle region will play their games March 21st and March 23rd at Climate Pledge Arena.

Oregon is back in action this week with just one game on its schedule, but it’s a big one. The Ducks will welcome into their home arena of Matthew Knight Arena defending Big Ten Regular Season Champion and national runner-up No. 17 ranked Purdue.
