Bryan Armetta makes his DraftKings NBA Pick6 selections before Saturday night’s NBA games tip off.
A six-game, twelve-team slate is on tap for basketball fans on Saturday. Among the matchups to watch, Trae Young and the Hawks will hope to take down the defending champion Celtics in Boston. Later on, the conference-leading Cavaliers head to Minnesota to take on Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves.
With several big names suiting up, there’s plenty of ways to get in on the action with DraftKings NBA Pick6 selections ahead of tonight’s matchups!
Jaylen Brown more than 23.5 points
The Celtics are one of the deepest teams in recent NBA history. How many other squads can boast a three-time All Star and former Finals MVP as their second-best player? Jaylen Brown has been his typical, dependable self this season, averaging 23.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists. The guard hasn’t been the most efficient with 45.4/32.4/76.3 shooting splits. Still, his well-rounded game makes him a threat in most statistical categories.
Tonight, JB should shine as a scorer. The Hawks are a walking bucket for opposing players, giving up the fifth-most points (118.8) and the most three-pointers made (15.2). When these two teams last played each other in November, Brown put up 37 points. The Georgia native is set up for a solid stat line against Atlanta.
Dyson Daniels more than 8.5 assists + rebounds
The Hawks may struggle on defense, but they’d be lost without Dyson Daniels. The 21-year-old was seen as an afterthought in last summer’s Dejounte Murray trade with the Pelicans. However, after just over two months of play, the guard has emerged as a two-way force. Solid offensive numbers have been overshadowed by a league-leading 3.1 steals per game.
The ballhawk’s defensive prowess is undeniable, but his skills on both ends of the floor deserve attention. This season, Daniels has produced 5.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists through 36 games. The former lottery pick has gone over this assists + rebounds total in nine of his last 15 appearances. A follow-up performance could be in the cards on Saturday.
Dennis Schroder more than 5.5 assists
A brutal stretch for Golden State was put on halt during Wednesday’s 116-115 win over the Timberwolves. However, there’s still plenty of issues facing the Warriors as we hit the midpoint of the 2024-25 season. One that stands out is the play of Dennis Schroder. Since being acquired by the Nets on December 16th, the guard has put up 10.2 points and 4.5 assists while shooting a miserable 34.6% from the field.
If there’s ever a time for a get-right game, it would be tonight. Friday’s opponent, the Wizards, are giving up the most points (122.4) and the fourth-most assists (28.6) in the NBA. Although Schroder hasn’t been the most involved on offense, he has averaged just under 28 minutes as a member of the Warriors. The veteran should have ample opportunity to make plays against a woeful Washington defense.
Kyshawn George more than 3.5 rebounds
There’s a good argument for the Wizards being one of the worst teams in recent memory. Still, there’s plenty of young talent on Washington’s roster, including Kyshawn George. Selected in the first round last summer, the Miami alum has posted 7.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in just over 25 minutes per game.
The rookie has been inconsistent as a scorer, but a 6’7″ frame gives him a chance at contributing on the glass. This season, the Warriors are giving up the fifth-most rebounds to opponents (53.4). The wing has gone over this rebounding total in 19 of his 34 appearances; a 20th is more than likely on Saturday.
Eric Gordon more than 9.5 points
Philadelphia’s nightmare campaign keeps getting worse. The team announced that star center Joel Embiid would miss at least the next seven days due to a knee injury. While that’s bad news for the 76ers, it does give several players an increased role going forward. That includes Eric Gordon; this season, the guard has averaged just 6.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
Those numbers are barely worth mentioning, but the 36-year-old has shown some signs of life recently. Gordon has scored at least ten points in four of his last five outings. Most recently, the guard dropped 14 in 21 minutes vs. the Knicks on Wednesday. As long as the veteran plays close to half of Saturday’s contest, he should have no problem reaching double-digits.
Fred VanVleet more than 2.5 three-pointers made
Fred VanVleet isn’t the most efficient player, but the guard is always a threat to knock down some shots. The former All-Star has shot just 38.8% from the field, but he’s generated 15.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists. On a team that lacks a true ‘go-to’ scorer, there’s always a chance that the 30-year-old drives Houston’s offense.
Heading into tonight’s matchup, the Rockets should give their point guard every opportunity to score. The Trail Blazers are allowing the 11th-most points (115.4) and the third-highest three-point percentage (37.9%) to opponents. VanVleet has knocked down three or more three-pointers in three of his last five outings. Against a weak perimeter defense, FVV could thrive from beyond the arc.
