Bossier Parish’s 12-game home win streak came to an end Saturday at the Billy Montgomery Gym in a 69-64 loss to Blinn College.
The Buccaneers built a seven-point lead in the final minute of the game and held the Cavaliers to just two free throws for the Region XIV win. BPCC falls to 12-5 overall and 4-5 in region play. Blinn stopped a two-game slide for the fourth time this season with the win and improved to 8-9, 4-5.
Bossier Parish led by as many as eight in the first half (22-14) as Braylan McNeal and Farvens Ulysee each scored six points. But a four-minute scoreless stretch allowed Blinn to go on a 11-0 run to take a 27-24 lead with a little more than two minutes left in the half and led 33-30 at the halftime break.
The Cavs battled back and took a 47-43 lead with just under 13 minutes left on a McNeal drive and Simeon Powell 3-point make. The Bucs regained the lead halfway through the second half 51-50 and never trailed afterward. They led by as many as 11 (67-56) with just under three minutes left.
Bossier got within 67-62 on a McNeal three and Ulysee free throw with 1:21 left in the game.
McNeal led the Cavs with 22 points and Powell finished with 16.
The Cavs are on the road Wednesday at Kilgore before returning home next Saturday to face Coastal Bend.
