What NFL games are on today? Channels, TV schedule for playoff games on Sunday

One of the best weekends of football is here. Last weekend, the wild card round of the NFL playoffs saw six teams eliminated from contention for Super Bowl 59, five in games that were decided by more than 10 points.

The remaining eight teams (four in each conference) moved on to the divisional round. Top seeds Kansas City in the AFC and Detroit in the NFC were back in action yesterday for the first time in the playoffs after securing a first-round bye.

They kicked off the weekend on Saturday with a spot in next week’s conference championship games on the line. Today, the other two games will decide their opponents.

Storylines for today’s NFL games

  • Philadelphia had its best day on the ground all season when they went on the road against Los Angeles in Week 12. The Eagles get the Rams at home this time around after Los Angeles’ defense stepped up against the Vikings. Saquon Barkley had a career night against the Rams last time these two teams played. If he can have even half of his outrageous stat line from that Week 12 game (302 total yards on 30 touches and two touchdowns), Philadelphia’s offense should be rolling and keeping Los Angeles’ pass rush at bay.
  • Los Angeles’ offense overpowered the Vikings early in the wild-card round to build a quick lead. The Eagles’ defense is a different challenge. There is a mix of veterans and rookies playing their best football at each level of the defense. Green Bay didn’t have the personnel to test the Eagles’ pass defense. Los Angeles does. Will Sean McVay press the right buttons against Vic Fangio and this defense?
  • The Ravens notched their first blowout win of the season the last time they played the Bills but that was in Week 4 of the regular season. Both teams look different, especially the Bills’ offense and Ravens’ defense. Josh Allen is an MVP candidate but will be tested by what became one of the best pass defenses in the league in the final eight weeks of the season.
  • Baltimore has its own MVP candidate in Lamar Jackson. The Ravens’ offense ran the ball 50 times against Pittsburgh in the wild-card round. Will they try that again against the No. 12-ranked Bills run defense? If not, it’ll be up to Jackson to air it out on the road.
