UTPB was picked to finish seventh in the Lone Star Conference standings as the preseason polls were released Thursday.
Defending national runner-up Angelo State was picked to finish first while Lubbock Christian was picked second, followed by West Texas A&M.
UTPB is coming off a 35-25 season from last spring which included an appearance in the NCAA South Central Regional.
LSC newcomers Sul Ross State was picked to finish last.
