After the resounding success that was College Football 25, it feels like college sports is back in a big way when it comes to gaming. And as gamers patiently await more standalone college-centric sports games, it’d be nice to see other established sports game franchises feature collegiate sports in some way. And sure enough, MLB The Show 25 will be the next to do so.

MLB The Show fans were really excited when it was revealed that star prospects Elly De La Cruz, Paul Skenes, and Gunnar Henderson would be featured on this year’s cover for MLB The Show 25. Not only did it mark the first time multiple athletes have been on an MLB The Show cover all at once, but anyone paying attention might’ve noticed something else about the cover art.
Next to each player’s portrait is a small diagram showing their path to the Bigs. For instance, Skenes’ path from LSU, to the Indianapolis Indians, to the Pittsburgh Pirates is shown directly next to him. On its own, this would be confirmation that college baseball will appear in some shape or form in MLB The Show 25. And sure enough, not only will college baseball make an appearance in this year’s entry, it’s been confirmed that high school baseball will also be available in some capacity.
As Redditor r/DonovanKreed noticed on the game’s PlayStation Store page, MLB The Show 25 will allow you to take a player — presumably in Road to the Show mode — all the way from high school, through college, to Major League Baseball. This news should be warmly received by RTTS players who have long complained about the lack of depth in the mode.
While most players will likely want to enjoy both high school and college baseball, having both allows RTTS players to choose between going to college and honing their craft, or getting drafted directly from high school — something unique to baseball since the NBA ceased drafting high school prospects in 2006.
As of right now, it’s unknown how deep high school and college baseball will be in MLB The Show 25, nor is it clear if the latter will include a wide selection of colleges or just a select few. We also don’t know whether or not these inclusions will bleed into multiplayer modes such as Diamond Dynasty (though a survey sent by San Diego Studio implies it might).
