Top QB recruit in Class of 2026 sets official visit date to UNC football program

The North Carolina Tar Heels sent shockwaves throughout the college football world in December, hiring 8-time Super Bowl Champion Bill Belichick to be their next head coach.

Not only is Belichick’s hiring expected to turn UNC into a consistent winning program, but it’s also catching the attention of several high-profile recruits, including the top players in their respective classes.

The high-profile recruit we’re talking about in this story happens to be Jared Curtis, a Class of 2026 quarterback from Nashville, Tenn. Curtis is 2026’s fourth-ranked player, top-ranked quarterback and Tenneessee’s top-ranked prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Upon Belichick’s initial hiring, Curtis declared his interest in North Carolina. Belichick recently visited Curtis – and it appears the latter will be returning the favor.

According to On3 Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, Curtis has a visit to Chapel Hill set up for Saturday, April 5.

Curtis also has visits to Georgia, Oregon, South Carolina, Alabama and Auburn. Good news for Belichick and the Tar Heels: UNC is Curtis’ first visit.

North Carolina would nab an absolute gem if able to steal Curtis away from the vaunted SEC. During his 2024 junior fall season, Curtis led Nashville Christian to the TSSAA Division II Class A State Championship, throwing for 2,830 yards and a career-best 40 touchdowns. Curtis’ high school totals include 7,665 passing yards, 92 touchdowns and just 19 interceptions.

How will the Tar Heels pitch Curtis during his April visit? I’m fairly certain Belichick and his new staff already have a 5-star plan up their sleeves.

Here’s to hoping UNC can lock down its first 5-star football recruit in the Belichick era.
