Former Florida baseball outfielder Harrison Bader has signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins, with a mutual option for 2026, according to Pioneer Press writer Betsy Helfand.
The announcement came on Wednesday and this will be the fifth stop for Bader in his MLB career.
Bader, who patrolled the outfield for the Gators from 2013-2015, has made a big impact with his defensive skills and incredible speed on the bases. During his tenure at Florida, Bader was known for his aggressive play and clutch hitting, which helped lead the team to multiple NCAA tournament appearances.
After being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round of the 2015 MLB Draft, Bader quickly climbed the ranks, making his major league debut in 2017.
For the Twins, acquiring a player of Bader’s caliber could shore up their outfield defense. Meanwhile, Bader will look to build on his career and possibly extend his stay in Minnesota if the mutual option for 2026 is picked up.
For Florida fans, Bader’s journey from the college fields in Gainesville to the major leagues has been a source of pride. His work ethic, highlighted by his quick ascension through the minor leagues, speaks volumes about the training and development he received as a Gator.
