Its opening week of college baseball. Some might say the best time of the year. I’ve got 5 storylines to follow for this 2025 season.
Tennessee looks to defend its title
Tennessee will look to defend its title despite losing a lot of talented guys like Christian Moore, Blake Burke, Billy Amick, Drew Beam and more. The Vols have some new talented players though both at the plate and on the mound.
Texas A&M’s revenge tour
The Aggies fell short of a title in the MCWS. They played pretty banged up too. This year they start the season as the preseason No. 1 team, with almost all of their talent back and new additions — plus a new head coach in Michael Early.

Can a revamped LSU make it back to MCWS after disappointing year?
Can a revamped LSU team make it back to the Men’s College World Series? LSU had 26 newcomers on the fall roster, and after missing out on a trip to Omaha last season, guys like Jared Jones and Steven Milam will look to lead them back.
Who emerges as the superstar of college baseball
Who will emerge as the superstar of college baseball in 2025? College baseball has had the likes of Paule Skenes, Jac Caglianone and Charlie Condon the past few years, but which big names will emerge this season?

How much will transfers impact? More than ever
How much of an impact will transfers have this season? It feels like the portal gets busier every year, and a lot of teams filled some holes from graduation with big names out of the portal. I broke down some of the biggest transfers already, but a few to know are:
- Aiva Arquette now at Oregon State
- Wyatt Henseler and Gavin Kash to Texas A&M
- Andrew Fischer to Tennessee
- Zach Root to Arkansas
- Anthony Eyanson to LSU
