CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Baseball alum and Milwaukee Brewers’ outfielder Sal Frelick has been named the winner of the 2024 National League Gold Glove Award for Right Field, Major League Baseball announced on Sunday night.
Frelick, the 15th overall selection in the 2021 MLB Draft, led the entire National League in defensive runs saved, and was one shy of Boston’s Wilyer Abreu for the most in the league. In his second MLB season, Frelick tied for the league-lead in outs above average (7), with just three errors in 278 outfield chances, good for a .989 fielding percentage.
A native of Lexington, Massachusetts, Frelick won the Rawlings Gold Glove Award in his third season with the Eagles in 2021. In three seasons at Boston College, he logged 237 defensive putouts without recording a single error.
Sal Frelick is the first Gold Glove winner in Boston College history.
