Today on Pinstripe Alley

After a long and dreary couple of months, the Yankees are at last descending on Tampa to begin their spring training preparations. My ears have been serenaded with the sweet sounds of Luke Weaver soundbites, our image folder is full of new shots as players arrive and start to toss around the ball — life is good. It will be better once exhibition games get going and incredible once the regular season itself begins, but we have to start somewhere and I’m happy to be here at last.

Warm up from another frosty Northeast night with our daily trivia game, and then settle in for some pieces to get through your day, beginning with Sam musing on the current timeline for Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge to both track towards 500 career homers. Then Josh steps in for our latest player preview, this time drawing star free agent signee Max Fried, and then later in the day Nick Sarnelli tackles the leadoff batter question as camp begins to open with no clear answer in sight.

Questions/Prompts:

1. What’s your gut feeling on who will bat leadoff for the first exhibition game? How about Opening Day?

2. Who’s your pick for the annual “in the best shape of his life” candidate this year?
