PITTSBURGH (WTAE) – A beloved husband and father of three in Pittsburgh was reunited Tuesday with the basketball team’s medical staff who saved his life after he collapsed during a game.
Ed Wesolowski suffered a major heart attack during a Duquesne women’s basketball game last month.
That’s when the Duquesne women’s basketball medical staff jumped into action using a protocol they had trained for, but had never used before.
They were able to bring Wesolowski back using chest compressions and an automated external defibrillator.
“I remember thinking, ‘That’s strange,’ and then the next thing I remember is being revived,” Wesolowski described. “I was dead for 90 seconds.”
The medical team said their instincts took over with a focus on doing what they’d learned through basic life support.
