- The ACC struggles as the season opens.

College baseball is well underway as the college basketball regular season continues to wind down. The SEC is once again leading the way with all four of the top four spots in this week’s coaches poll belonging to them. The SEC has proven to be the dominant conference on the diamond.
The Tennessee Vols were ranked No. 2 in the preseason and jumped the Texas A&M Aggies, following the Aggies’ loss to Cal Poly in the final game of a three-game weekend series. The team also lost star 3B Gavin Grahovac to a shoulder injury that will require season-ending surgery.
The Alabama Crimson Tide were the biggest winners of the week after starting the season 8-0 and jumping into the top 25 to No. 20. The Tide were originally outside the preseason poll at No. 33. Southern Miss jumped 15 spots to No. 23 overall at their 7-1 start.
It was tough sledding to start the season in the ACC with North Carolina State falling out of the No. 16 slot. They slid down 15 spots after starting the season 3-4. The Wolfpack swept Fordham to start the year and lost four straight that began with Liberty and continued in the Jax College Baseball Classic with losses to Ohio State, Alabama, and Coastal Carolina. The Duke Blue Devils fell nine spots to No. 21 and Virginia dropped out of the top five after their 3-3 start.
