BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — Eastern Florida State College baseball pitcher Owen Simmons was named the FCSAA Division I Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
The Titans sophomore tossed a complete game shutout against the College of Central Florida last Thursday night, striking out 11 without walking any hitters. Simmons came out in the ninth inning with a groundout and then struck out the final two hitters to finish off the 4-0 victory.
Simmons is 4-0 in five starts with a 0.90 ERA, striking out 32 over 30 innings this season, walking just eight hitters.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Seminole State College on Thursday to open a three-game series with the Raiders. The teams will be back at Bruce Bochy Field on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
