On Thursday, CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish updated his college basketball Top 25 and 1 rankings. Parrish had plenty to consider after a wild slate of midweek matchups.
Although Ole Miss fell out of Parrish’s rankings, the SEC still boasts a conference-high eight teams in the Top 25 and 1. The Big Ten doesn’t trail far behind with six teams in Parrish’s latest rankings.
With so many fantastic teams to cover, let’s dive into Parrish’s latest college basketball Top 25 and 1 rankings.
Previous Ranking: 1
On Wednesday, Auburn ran Ole Miss out of the gym in a 106-76 blowout victory. In the win, Johni Broome was spectacular as usual, racking up 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
However, he was far from the only Tigers standout. Chad Baker-Mazara lit up the Rebels for 22 points while shooting 4-5 from beyond the arc. Auburn is poised to be the No. 1 seed heading into one of the most highly-anticipated conference tournaments in college basketball history.

Duke handed out a 97-60 shellacking to Miami on Tuesday. The Blue Devils haven’t had any trouble taking care of business against subpar teams this season, regularly defeating unranked opponents by massive margins.
In the win against the Hurricanes, freshman Kon Kneuppel led all scorers with 20 points on 4-5 shooting from 3-point range. Cooper Flagg didn’t trail far behind, tallying 16 points, five rebounds and six assists in the triumph.

Houston finally cracked Parrish’s top three this week after defeating No. 10 Texas Tech 69-61 on Monday. It was the Cougars’ second-straight win over a ranked opponent after they defeated Iowa State in the previous game.
With the win, Houston clinched at least a share of the Big 12 regular-season title. It’s worth noting that Texas Tech was without two of its top three leading scorers, Chance McMillian and Darrion Williams, who both have lower-body injuries.

Since losing back-to-back games against Auburn and Missouri, Alabama has picked up two consecutive ranked wins. Most recently, the Crimson Tide downed Mississippi State in emphatic 111-73 fashion.
In the win on Tuesday, Alabama rained down a barrage of 3-pointers on the Bulldogs. The Crimson Tide shot 22-45 (48.9%) from deep in the win. Chris Youngblood notched a game-high 27 points, draining seven 3-pointers in the process.

It wasn’t always pretty but Tennessee escaped with a 65-59 triumph over LSU on Tuesday. In the win, the Volunteers shot just 41.1% from the field and 27.3% from beyond the arc.
Nonetheless, Zakai Zeigler and Chaz Lanier propelled their team to victory, combining for 31 points. Lanier also reeled in nine rebounds against the Tigers. Tennessee needs to finish the regular season strong to secure a double-bye in the SEC Tournament.

Michigan State made a miracle happen to take down Maryland on Wednesday. After Maryland’s Ja’Kobi Gillespie missed a 3-point shot attempt with just two seconds left in the game, Tre Holloman was forced to launch the ball from beyond half.
He drained it, boosting the Spartans to a 58-55 victory and their second consecutive win against a ranked foe. Jase Richardson was the only player who reached double figures for the Spartans, scoring 15 points.

Florida fell in Parrish’s rankings earlier this week after suffering an unexpected 88-83 loss to Georgia. Despite trailing by 26 points in the first half, the Gators fought back to take an 80-78 lead late in the game.
Alas, the Gators weren’t able to hold on to their jaw-dropping comeback. Florida guard Will Richard erupted for a career-high 30 points while knocking down five baskets from range.

Previous Ranking: 8
St. John’s built on its momentum with a 76-70 win over Butler on Wednesday. With the victory, head coach Rick Pitino and his Redstorm clinched the program’s first share of a Big East regular season championship in 33 years.
St. John’s guard RJ Luis collected 24 points and four rebounds in the win. Kadary Richmond did his part as well, tallying 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals en route to victory.

Wisconsin is doing everything it can to stay within striking distance of Michigan State for the Big Ten regular season title. On Tuesday, the Badgers bounced back from their surprising loss against Oregon with an 88-62 triumph over Washington.
The Huskies didn’t have any answers for the Badgers, who snagged nearly twice as many offensive rebounds as them. Wisconsin sophomore John Blackwell stole the show, recording a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Michigan cracked Parrish’s top 10 on Thursday, thanks to its narrow 49-46 win over Nebraska earlier in the week. It was a grind-it-out game for the Wolverines, who connected on just 29.5% of their attempts for the floor.
In fact, the win is Michigan’s lowest-scoring win in 17 years. Wolverines big man Danny Wolf led the charge, notching 10 points and 10 rebounds. Tre Donaldson stuffed the stat sheet too, racking up 11 points, eight boards and four assists.
