The Kentucky Wildcats just picked up their eighth top-15 win thanks to a 91-83 road victory over the Missouri Tigers. It capped off a historic regular season for Mark Pope in his first year in Lexington.
For Pope and Co., this win will put Kentucky in the college basketball record books as one of only three teams ever to reach eight wins vs. teams ranked in the top 15 of the AP Top 25 Poll.
This, according to UK statistician Corey Price.
Most regular season wins against opponents ranked in the Top 15 of the men’s basketball @AP_Top25 in a single season:
– 8, 2024-2025 @KentuckyMBB
– 8, 1992-1993 Indiana
– 8, 1978-1979 Duke

This has not been done since Bobby Knight was coaching at Indiana in the 1992-93 season. The 1978-79 Duke team also accomplished this feat one season after falling to Goose Givens and the Wildcats in the NCAA National Championship Game.
It has been roughly 46 years since the Blue Devils were the first team to win eight games against top-15 opponents. Now, there have been three coaches to do so, and that is legendary coach Knight, Bill Foster, and Mark Pope.
The Wildcats had many opportunities to reach this mark, and they did just that Saturday afternoon as they got a big road win over the Tigers inside Mizzou Arena. Let’s hope it helps pave the way for a deep postseason run.
