
The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers defeated Delgado Monday at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
BPCC (18-5) ranked No. 24 in the NJCAA Division I poll. It’s the first time BPCC has been ranked since 2008.
The Cavs host No. 4 LSU Eunice Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Bossier showcased a strong team performance both at the plate and on the mound against Delgado. Bennett Mittelsteadt led the offensive charge with an three hits, including two doubles and a home run.
Hayden Stringfellow had two hits, including a towering shot over the scoreboard. It was his seventh home run of the season.
BPCC also got hits from Hunter Fontenot, Parker Gwyneth, Tyrus Hall, Gianluca Montanaro and Daniel Pinkerton.
On the pitching side, startervJake Guidry set the tone early, starting on the mound and delivering a stellar performance over three innings.
Guidry allowed only four hits and struck out seven, effectively keeping Delgado’s offense in check. Browdy Bower followed with a solid three-inning outing, allowing just one run.
Aiden Dominguez and Bryson Menard closed the game. Domingue pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing two runs but making crucial pitches when it mattered most. Menard then took over, slamming the door on Delgado by pitching 1 2/3 innings with one strikeout.
