Kansas State opens the 2025 season against Iowa State in Dublin, a chance to beat a ranked common opponent in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic. It is the Avery Johnson and Dylan Edwards show for the Wildcats in a wide-open Big 12. Kansas State entered November last season with a chance to wreak havoc in the conference title race and playoff discussion, but dropped three of its final four games, including a couple in crunch time.
Early on, it appears the Wildcats are the perceived preseason favorite in a conference that will undoubtedly be once again unpredictable. If Johnson can ascend to a conference player of the year-caliber showing, Kansas State could be a playoff team in 2025. Consecutive nine-win seasons is impressive, but the Wildcats have yet to hit that next level under Chris Klieman. That changes if Kansas State enters November this time around with better execution with trips to Oklahoma State and Utah over the final three weeks.
