College baseball: Ridgewater leaves Florida with a win

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — The Ridgewater baseball team concluded its Florida trip with a 5-2 victory over the Community College of Rhode Island on Thursday at Chain of Lakes Park.

Dominic Rose went six innings for the pitching victory. The freshman right-hander from Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop struck out three, walked three and allowed five hits and two runs, one earned. Gabe Rohman, a sophomore right-hander from New London-Spicer, picked up the save, going the final three innings. He allowed two hits and one walk. He struck out one and allowed no runs.

Max Athmann led the Warriors (2-6). The sophomore shortstop from Paynesville went 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run, two runs and three RBIs. Jayce Olthoff, a freshman center fielder and lead-off hitter from Dassel-Cokato, went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Ridgewater’s next game is 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 at Riverland Community College in Austin.
