College basketball scores, results: Cooper Flagg’s injury casts cloud over wild Thursday of conference tournament action

With Selection Sunday just days away, the Madness is nearly upon us. College basketball conference tournaments are now in full swing and most of the nation’s top teams were in action on Thursday.
The day started with a scary moment in Duke’s ACC opener against Georgia Tech. Projected No. 1 NBA Draft pick Cooper Flagg sprained his ankle and needed to be helped off the court just before halftime. The Blue Devils held on for a nervy win, but coach Jon Scheyer was noncommittal on Flagg’s status moving forward.
The Wildcats hold on after a late surge by the Sooners to advance to the quarterfinals for a showdown with Alabama. Kentucky lost both matchups against the Crimson Tide during the regular season.
Final: UConn 73, Villanova 56
Wildcats dominate the second half and roll into the Big East semifinals.
They’ll face Creighton on Friday night.
Dagger for UConn?
After trailing at halftime, UConn has taken over late vs. Villanova in the Big East quarterfinals.
Final: Arizona 88, Kansas 77
Arizona ran away with it in the final minutes. Wildcats advance to the Big 12 semifinals, where it will face Texas Tech on Friday.
Final: Clemson 57, SMU 54
The Tigers had to earn this one. They traded leads with the Mustangs all day, but held on in the ACC quarterfinals and will now meet Louisville on Friday

Arizona is back in front but it’s looking like a fun finish coming in Kansas City.

Mayo has 18 points, including five 3-pointers, and KU suddenly leads the Wildcats.

Villanova has UConn on upset watch
Wooga Poplar has 15 points to help Villanova to a 36-31 halftime lead over UConn.

The 3s are starting to drop for the Jayhawks, who have cut Arizona’s lead to 52-50 in the opening minutes of the 2nd half.

Henri Veesaar’s 10 points leads the way for Arizona, which controlled the entire first half vs. Kansas.

The Wildcats are scorching from deep early (5-of-6), and that’s a big reason they lead Kansas 33-24 at the under-8 timeout in the first half.

Final: Creighton 85, DePaul 81, 2OT
Creighton comes back from 17 down (and 11 down in the final 2 minutes of regulation) to escape a big upset in the Big East quarterfinals.

Creighton is punishing DePaul inside and has taken an 81-78 lead with 53 seconds to play.
Double OT in Creighton-DePaul!
DePaul sent the game into a second OT after Layden Blocker hit a floater with 1.3 seconds left to tie it at 73-73 after the first overtime.
Gutsy stretch for DePaul after melting down in the final minutes of regulation.
Final: Texas Tech 76, Baylor 74
In the end, the Bears didn’t have enough juice to rally all the way back and the Red Raiders move on to the semifinals to face the winner of Arizona vs. Kansas.
Creighton rallies for OT!
Meanwhile, Creighton went on an incredible 11-0 run in the final minutes of regulation to force overtime vs. DePaul.

Chucky Hepburn hits the winning jumper to lift Louisville past Stanford 75-73 after an initial miss and scramble for the ball in the final seconds. Wow.
Cardinals advance to the ACC semifinals in dramatic fashion.
Baylor trying to come back against Texas Tech
Meanwhile, Baylor has surged back in the second half and made it a game against Texas Tech. The Bears were trailing by as much as 15 but have made it a five-point game with just over 2 minutes left.
Stanford not done yet
It looked like Louisville was about to pull away and avoid the upset, but Stanford’s Chisom Okpara has tied it up with an and-1.
It’s 73-73 with 27 seconds to go in the ACC quarters.
