Everything Oregon DC Tosh Lupoi said in his preview of Oregon’s spring football

How do you use what happened in the Rose Bowl game as motivation and to change how you develop and coach defense?

“Yeah, I think first you, I always got to look myself, you know, in the mirror. So and from a preparation standpoint, you know, we probably utilize too many things that helped us win the first time we beat them, you know, and always be, you know, asking yourself, you know the what ifs, you know, if they’re getting to specific looks or moving around guys that they didn’t do in the past. So having a better plan for, you know, they move number four around way more than they had in the past, you know. So having a plan for that, you know, moving forward is necessary and applies, you know, to any team we play. But when they, when, obviously, they got a lot of strong targets out there, but when they’re, you know, moving around guys that we’re expecting to be in certain places, you know, what’s, what’s the answers to that. So that was something that I’ve dove deep into since then, you know, and again, feeling like there was a lot more copycats. You know, when we watched that game and broke it down in the past, have taken bits and pieces from other place, from other teams that did work at times, versus us. So, you know, just going back almost to a self Scout standpoint of what were the answers, you know, when we did give up an explosive whether it’s, you know, versus Illinois in the games 38 to nine, you know, never having the imposter of victory or defeat. You know, affect the way that we, you know, post debrief, all those answers, so it stands out there. So improving from that, and I think, you know, you already answered the second piece, you know, as far as control the controllables. So, you know, those, those same guys that you mentioned, that were, you know, in the five, nine range. Those same, same guys you know, helped us be, I think it was 10 straight weeks, you know, a number one past defense in the country and lead the nation in PBUs. So credit those guys you know to getting us to that point. But moving forward, that was the past. Now we’re in the present and really excited to coach these, you know, young, talented guys, or inexperienced or lack of organ experienced guys moving forward.”
