College basketball scores, results: Houston, St. John’s roll to conference tournament titles

We are just hours away from Selection Sunday and the action is getting better all the time.
With most favorites delivering earlier in the week, Saturday is jam-packed with marquee showdowns as the majority of conference tournaments wrap up.
The day started off with a pair of upsets in the Big Ten and SEC semifinals. Wisconsin knocked off top-seeded Michigan State and Tennessee held off Auburn to advance to their respective conference finals. Michigan also delivered a dramatic finish with Tre Donaldson hitting the game-winner with 0.9 seconds left to beat Maryland.

Deadlocked in the ACC title game
We’re tied 28-28 at the final TV timeout of the half. Roughly half of the shots have been threes so far. Louisville is 4-of-11 — Chucky Hepburn is just 1-of-6 — and Duke is 5-of-13.

St. John’s secures the double title, regular season and tournament, in the Big East. First tournament title since 2000.

It was close until SJU went on a massive surge midway through the 2nd half.
Houston wins Big 12 tournament title!
The No. 1 seed Cougars finish the game on an 11-2 run to hold off a feisty Wildcats team.
That most likely secures Houston as a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

A tight game has suddenly turned into a 70-57 St. John’s lead. Under 5 minutes to go.
Colorado State wins MWC title, potentially stealing a bid
The Rams blow out Boise State to win the Mountain West autobid. That might be bad news for some bubble teams, as Boise was likely already in the NCAA tourney field.
Houston steals momentum back
The Cougars head into the final TV timeout with a 66-62 lead over Arizona.

Arizona back in front
This KJ Lewis’ bucket was part of a 7-0 Wildcats run to give them a 62-61 lead with 5:28 to play.
St. John’s takes its first lead
Vince Iwuchukwu hit back-to-back buckets to give the Johnnies their first lead of the game, and the crowd is on its feet in New York City.

The Cougars have come out of the half firing, and they’re all square with Arizona at 40-40.

It’s been a rock fight so far, with points tough to come by. Should be a dramatic final 20 minutes to decide the Big East champ.

St. John’s has made it close after trailing almost the entire game, but Creighton’s Steven Ashworth silenced the heavily SJU-favored crowd at Madison Square Garden with this shot:

St. John’s shoeless and trailing in Big East title game
Creighton is up 19-15 early in the Big East championship, and St. John’s players are out here losing shoes.
Arizona has taken a 21-19 lead on a Tobe Awaka hook shot in the paint. The Wildcats are on a 10-0 run.
“You gotta be tough!”
Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd was shown firing up his team during a timeout huddle, yelling at them to be tough in fighting for the ball when Houston goes for the steal.
