Cornell vs. Yale
The two times these teams met during the regular season resulted in a Yale win, and they are the more complete team in this matchup. While Cornell’s offense is explosive—ranking 23rd in points per possession away from home—Yale has been even more efficient, entering Saturday 11th in points per possession away from home. Yale also backs it up with a defense that ranks 78th in points per possession allowed, while Cornell sits at 255th in this category.
Pick: Yale -6 (Greg’s Handicap: Yale -7.5)
1:00 PM Eastern
George Mason vs. VCU
Both teams have been dominant on the defensive end, with VCU entering Saturday ranked fifth in the country in points per possession allowed, while George Mason ranks 10th. While VCU holds a sizable edge offensively—ranking 32nd in points per possession compared to George Mason at 186th—George Mason is in the top 26 nationally in both opponent two-point and three-point shooting percentage, which should help keep this game close.
Pick: George Mason +8.5 (Greg’s Handicap: George Mason +7.5)
Tennessee vs. Florida
Florida’s defense is one of the most dominant units in the country, ranking in the top 10 in both opponent two-point and three-point shooting percentage and 17th overall in points per possession allowed. Tennessee, meanwhile, ranks sixth nationally in defensive points per possession and prefers to slow the game down, entering Saturday ranked 303rd in total possessions per game.
Pick: Under 142.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 139)
3:15 PM Eastern
UAB vs. Memphis
UAB’s offense has been stellar, entering Saturday ranked eighth in the nation in points per possession away from home. However, their defense has struggled, ranking 265th in points per possession allowed. Meanwhile, Memphis has improved defensively throughout the season, especially at guarding the perimeter—they rank first in the American Conference in three-point shooting defense, allowing opponents to hit just 29.9% from beyond the arc. Offensively, Memphis is also strong from deep, ranking sixth in road three-point shooting percentage at 39.3%.
Picks: Memphis -4.5 and Under 161.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Memphis -6 and Total 158)
3:30 PM Eastern
Wisconsin vs. Michigan
Wisconsin is excelling in the fundamentals, leading the country in free throw shooting percentage and ranking 19th nationally in turnovers per possession committed. In contrast, Michigan struggles with ball control, entering Saturday ranked 329th in turnovers per possession. Even with Michigan having Danny Wolf and Vladislav Goldin down low, they rank just 157th in defensive rebounding percentage, allowing opponents to grab 27.2% of their missed shots, while Wisconsin ranks 68th in this category.
Pick: Wisconsin -3 (Greg’s Handicap: Wisconsin -4.5)
