We might have a new favorite pick for the Denver Broncos in NFL mock drafts.
Before NFL free agency, Michigan tight end Colston Loveland was the most popular pick for the Broncos at No. 20 in the NFL mock drafts. After the Broncos signed Evan Engram during free agency, though, many draft experts will likely begin mocking a different position.
Denver still needs a running back, and the Broncos will probably be a popular landing spot for Round 1 running back prospects in mock drafts going forward.
In his latest NFL mock draft for USA TODAY, Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz has Denver selecting North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton at No. 20. That feels like a realistic pick, and it will likely be a popular prediction in future mocks.
Hampton (6-0, 221 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 18 times at the NFL combine. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has described Hampton as a “[h]igh-volume battering ram with a three-ingredient recipe of size, strength and aggression.”
Hampton received first-team All-American recognition in each of the last two seasons. He rushed for 3,164 yards and 30 touchdowns from 2023-2024 and is now considered one of the top RBs in this year’s class. The 21-year-old RB will be a name to watch leading up to pick No. 20.
