The Dodgers and Cubs are kicking off the 2025 baseball season in Japan. How to watch

Major League Baseball is back — but fans in the U.S. will have to wake up early to catch the first games of the 2025 season.

The Chicago Cubs and the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers will open the season in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday, March 18, at 6:10 a.m. ET.

This year’s spring training kicked off with the Dodgers facing the Cubs on Feb. 20 in Arizona, with Chicago defeating LA 12-4. The following day, the Cubs beat the Dodgers 7-3.

The last time the two teams faced each other on Opening Day was in 1963, MLB.com reports. That season, the Dodgers beat the Cubs on Opening Day and ultimately won the World Series.

In the Tokyo Series games this week, both teams will showcase Japanese players like Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki on the Dodgers, as well as Chicago’s Shota Imanaga and Seiya Suzuki. Pitchers Yamamoto and Imanaga will start Opening Day for their respective teams.

Here’s how to watch the MLB season opener.
