Three must-start fantasy basketball players for Tuesday 3/18/25 NBA slate

Alex Hunter dives into tonight’s NBA four-game main slate to find three players you need to have in your DraftKings lineups.

On the menu for Tuesday is a four-game slate. Below, I dive into three of my favorite DFS options to consider for tonight’s NBA action.

SF/PF, Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics vs. Brooklyn Nets, $10,800

While Tatum (knee) is questionable tonight, the superstar should still suit up. The Celtics haven’t played since Saturday, and they won’t play again until Friday after tonight. Plus, Jaylen Brown (knee) is out and when one of Tatum or Brown are sidelined, the other All-Star tends to play to lead Boston. If Tatum is active as expected, he will be a great high-end target that may get overlooked after initially being listed as questionable.

This season, Tatum is leading the Celtics with 51.4 FPTS per game with Brown inactive, and with Brown off the floor, Tatum’s usage rises 5.4 percentage points to 36.6%, and he supplies 1.5 FPTS per minute. The Nets rank 24th in defensive rating since the All-Star break, and Tatum will have a ceiling over 60 FPTS in this spot.

C, Onyeka Okongwu, Atlanta Hawks at Charlotte Hornets, $7,500

As the Hawks fight to hold onto the No.7 in the Eastern Conference, Okongwu has been putting up huge numbers. The center is coming off a 54.75 FPTS performance in 32 minutes vs. the Nets, which is Okongwu’s fourth effort of at least 44 FPTS in his last six starts. Both Caris LeVert (knee) and Clint Capela (personal) missed that matchup with Brooklyn and will remain unavailable tonight for Atlanta.

Their absences will tighten up the Hawks’ rotation, and Okongwu should see 30–35 minutes of work against a Hornets team that ranks 26th in defensive rating since the All-Star break. Atlanta carries the highest implied team total on the slate in this spot, and Okongwu should produce a double-double of over 40 FPTS.

SF/PF, DaQuan Jeffries, Charlotte Hornets vs. Atlanta Hawks, $4,000

Jeffries has started for the Hornets in four consecutive games, and he has been solid with the starting job, scoring 21.4 FPTS per game. Miles Bridges was available for all these contests, but the forward will be rested tonight, creating a large void for Charlotte. Since the All-Star break, Bridges is handling a 29% usage rate and leading the Hornets in playing time. With the veteran missing, Jeffries should be one of the primary beneficiaries and approach 40 minutes against this Hawks team that ranks second in pace this season.

This game carries the highest total on the slate at 236.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook and with the huge workload, Jeffries should exceed five-times value and is one of the best values for this four-game slate. Since the All-Star break, Jeffries is scoring 0.73 FPTS per minute with Bridges off the court.
