COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football, the defending national champions, will visit the White House on April 14, according to a report from CBS News.
The Buckeyes will be the first college football team to make the trip since President Donald Trump was re-elected.
Ohio State beat Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Jan. 20, which was also Inauguration Day for Trump and Vice President JD Vance — a graduate of OSU.
The victory against the Fighting Irish marked the end of a memorable season for coach Ryan Day’s squad.
Ohio State went 10-2 in the regular season, capped by a shocking loss against rival Michigan. However, OSU earned an at-large bid to the inaugural 12-team CFP.
In the first round, Ohio State defeated Tennessee. That was followed by a win vs. Oregon at the Rose Bowl, a win vs. Texas at the Cotton Bowl and a win vs. Notre Dame in Atlanta.
The title marked Ohio State’s ninth national championship in program history and the first in a decade.
