Miami holding its annual Pro Day today and poised to potentially produce ten NFL Draft picks in 2025

The Miami Hurricanes football program will host its annual Pro Day on Monday and it will be the biggest event UM has hosted in a long time.

UM is expected many of the top NFL talent evaluators today with QB Cam Ward expected to go through a workout as he looks to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The last time a Miami Hurricane was selected with the No. 1 overall pick? The 1991 NFL Draft with the Dallas Cowboys selecting defensive tackle Russell Maryland with that top pick.

The Tennessee Titans currently won the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and there is plenty of buzz that Ward will be that pick.

Ward is coming off a record breaking 2024 seasonal Miami in which he threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns while leading the Hurricanes to a 10-3 season. He also showed mobility at the position, rushing for 204 yards and four touchdowns.

Ward was a zero star recruit who began his college career at FCS level Incarnate Word before transferring to Washington State and starting for the Cougars in 2022 and 2023. He finished his college career with 18,189 passing yards.

When Ward transferred to Miami, he was viewed by NFL draft scouts as a day three pick. After a year at Miami in which he was surrounded by better talent, Ward is now the betting favorite to be the top overall pick in the draft.

Miami featured the number one offense in the country during the 2024 season and NFL evaluators will also be keeping a close eye on the talented players on that side of the ball during the Pro Day action.

Tight end Elijah Arroyo is widely projected to be a second or third round NFL Draft pick this year because of the athleticism and big play potential he brings to the field. Arroyo’s college career was plagued by multiple injuries, but he was healthy in 2024 and finished the year with 590 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 16.9 yards per catch.

If the athleticism that Arroyo shows on the field translates to the Pro Day testing, the talented tight end figures to be a lock for the second round.

Slot receiver Xavier Restrepo also has a lot to prove during the testing portion of Miami’s Pro Day. At 5-feet-10 and 200 pounds, Restrepo has shown the ability to be highly productive, totaling at least 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons at Miami. Restrepo finished his college career at Miami with 2,844 yards and 21 touchdowns.

If Restrepo can run a 40 in the 4.5 range, it would significantly boost his draft stock. Right now he is viewed as a day three pick, but a fast 40 time could push him into day two consideration.

Running back Damien Martinez was the first Miami running back to crack the 1,000 yard mark since Mark Walton did it in 2016. Martinez ran for 1,002 yards and ten touchdowns at Miami. He ran for over 2,000 yards during his first two seasons at Oregon State.

Martinez had a strong showing at the NFL Combine, clocking a 4.51 in the 40, a 35-inch vertical, and a broad jump of 10-feet-4.

Offensive lineman Jalen Rivers is viewed as a versatile player who can play any position along the line as he projects as a day three pick. Rivers started 33 games at guard or tackle during his Miami career.

Wide receivers Jacolby George and Sam Brown are also day three projections who will look to impress at Pro Day. George finished the 2024 season with 752 yards and eight touchdowns while brown totaled 509 yards and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side, defensive end Tyler Baron, linebacker Kiko Mauigoa, and defensive tackle Simeon Barrow project as potential day three selections. Baron led the Hurricanes with 48 pressures and 11 tackles for loss on the season. Barrow totaled eight tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Mauigoa totaled 96 tackles and 11 tackles for loss during his final year at UM.

Kicker Andy Borregales is one of the handful of specialists who could get selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Borregales made 86 percent of his field goal attempts during his career, including a 75 percent conversion rate from attempts of at least 40 yards.

Other players expected to participate in the Pro Day include: DL Elijah Alston, DL Anthony Campbell, OL Zach Carpenter, DL C.J. Clark, DL Marley Cook, TE Cam McCormick, DB Daryl Porter, and DB Meesh Powell.

Miami will provide access to the media for on-field drills. Check InsideTheU at around 2:30 for updates from this session.
