NFL talent evaluators will take a closer look at recent Penn State football standouts Friday when the program hosts its annual Pro Day event. Although top 2025 Draft prospect Abdul Carter will not work out due to his continued injury recovery, this event presents an opportunity for several accomplished Nittany Lions including All-American tight end Tyler Warren to make a positive impression on league coaches and scouts.
As usual, Lions247 will be on the scene in Holuba Hall for complete coverage of Pro Day, and you can follow our live updates by clicking the link below.
The 2025 NFL Draft occurs April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wis., leaving less than month for franchises to finalize their target boards. Historically, Penn State ranks among the top 10 college football programs in producing NFL draft picks, with 389 players on that list, which features 42 first-round selections.
Last April, Olu Fashanu (No. 11) and Chop Robinson (No. 21) became Penn State’s latest Round 1 selections. Running back Saquon Barkley, snagged second overall in 2018, is the last top-10 pick from State College. This year, Carter and Warren are expected to form another first-round Nittany Lions tandem, and have a realistic chance to become the program’s first top-10 duo since 2000 (LaVar Arrington and Courtney Brown).
After producing only one first-round pick from 2011 through 2020, Penn State could expand that total to seven since 2021. Jahan Dotson, Odafe Oweh, Micah Parsons, Fashanu and Robinson have each landed in Round 1 during this span. Although he went 32nd overall (usually the first round’s final pick), cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was the initial choice of Round 2 in 2023, ultimately becoming a finalist for Defensive Rookie of the Year that season.
Along with Warren, former Penn State starters such as defensive tackle Dvon J-Thomas, cornerback Jalen Kimber, linebacker Kobe King, offensive guard Sal Wormley, and safeties Jaylen Reed and KJ Winston are among draft prospects expected to participate Friday. Set to start mid-morning, Penn State Pro Day presents an opportunity for league decision makers to gather more intel on each participant, using tests such as the 40-yard dash, shuttle, 3-cone drill, broad jump, vertical leap, and bench press to piece together a more complete prospect profile.
Better yet, in celebration of the start of a key span on Penn State’s football calendar, we’re offering two ways to gain VIP access at Lions247 through March 31. You can either come on board for a full year of insider coverage at half the price or take a test run by joining for one month at only $1.
Penn State is tasked with replacing Carter, Warren and the other aforementioned impact players as 2025 spring practice opened this week. Following the first on-field session, Lions247 published practice notebooks for both OFFENSE and DEFENSE, and a PHOTO GALLERY for a closer look at Nittany Lions newcomers.
