Since the Start of March, John Tavares has been on one of the best hot streaks in the league, earning him a place with Jack Eichel and Jordan Binnington for the three stars of the month.
In 15 games played, Tavares recorded 13 goals, which led the month, and seven assists for a total of 20 points.
Tavares’ goal total would be the most by a player in any calendar month this season, with a five-game scoring streak to go with it. Unfortunately, the streak ended in Anaheim on Sunday.

John Tavares #91 of the Toronto Maple Leafs
Also in March, Tavares recorded his 1,100th career point, and with no signs of slowing down, this number will only continue to rise in the future.
With a very big helping hand from the Leafs assistant captain, Toronto was able to take back the lead in the Atlantic Division, going 8-5-2 in March, being three points up in first ahead of a crucial game against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday.
With a month of production like this, it was only a given that Tavares would be named the NHL’s Second Star of the Month, and with the 34-year-old looking to only continue his fantastic play, hopefully the Leafs can benefit from him continuing this form in the postseason.
Although Tavares has always been a consistent player throughout his career, it is impossible to exaggerate the resurgence he has had in his play, and in a contract year, he can expect to hit another big payday when the offseason rolls around.
Tavares has made his intentions very clear on continuing his career with the Blue-and-White, but don’t be surprised if many other teams come calling if he decides to hit the open market.
