Updating Tennessee in college baseball polls following Texas A&M series loss

Tennessee baseball is no longer the No. 1 team in the nation.

The Vols tumbled from the spot after losing a series to Texas A&M at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. They are ranked No. 4 in the USA TODAY coaches poll, ending a six-week run as the No. 1 team in the nation. Tennessee, which received two first-place votes, was replaced by Arkansas at No. 1.

UT (28-4, 9-3 SEC) lost both games of a Saturday doubleheader against the Aggies. They lost 9-3 in the first game then lost 17-6 in the second game, allowing the most runs in a game since Tony Vitello’s first season in 2018. It was UT’s first home series loss in two years and ended an 12-series winning streak in SEC play dating back to its first conference series in 2024 against Alabama.

Tennessee won its first 20 games of the season to string together a 22-game winning streak dating back to last season’s College World Series. The Vols won the final two games in Omaha to clinch the program’s first national title.

It lost back-to-back one-run games to ETSU and Alabama in mid-March before winning eight straight.
