The Nebraska men’s basketball program won the College Basketball Crown Tournament on Sunday, defeating the UCF Knights by a 77-66 score. It was quite a journey for the program, as they defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils, Georgetown Hoyas, and the Boise State Broncos on the way to the crown.
Plenty of people watched the tournament. Over 822,000 viewers watched the championship, up 62% over the NIT title game between Chattanooga and UC Irvine. The viewer interest was also there for the semi-finals. The semifinals averaged 706,000 viewers, 145% more than the NIT semifinals.
The fan support was undoubtedly there for a Nebraska basketball program that recorded back-to-back 20-win seasons. Now, the program will look to carry this momentum into next season, as they have stayed busy in the transfer portal and have several key players remaining.
At the very least, they were able to end the season on a high note.
