Former Kansas City Mavericks’ goaltender Victor Ostman became the 765th ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday at Utah.
Ostman, who was recalled from the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds on an emergency basis, stopped all 12 shots he faced in relief of Joey Daccord in the Kraken’s 7-1 loss to the Utah Hockey Club on Tuesday.

Utah torched Daccord with seven goals through 40 minutes, firing 29 shots on goal before he was relieved by Ostman to begin the third period.
Daccord started after goalie Philipp Grubauer fell ill.
Ostman is the 13th former ECHL player to make his NHL debut in 2024-25. The former Maine Black Bear made his pro debut with the Mavericks this season, going 21-7-4 in 32 appearances with two shutouts, a 2.52 goals-against average and a save percentage of .903.
In four games with the Firebirds this season, Ostman has recorded a .927 save percentage and 2.00 goals-against average.
While he may likely be sent back down soon, Ostman certainly made a good first impression and will hopefully get another chance with the Kraken at some point in the future.
