Lane College Basketball coach Harold Rayford reflects on season

Let’s start things off with Lane College as their men’s basketball
team is coming off a season where they saw a lot
of ups and downs being that they ended the season
with a 7-19 record. They brought in first year head coach
Harold Rayford who has a ton of experience being the founder
of Tennessee preparatory academy. The dragons dropped the
first 5 games of the season but started to find their stride
winning two straight. Coach Rayford is also known for being
a great energetic recruiter and with that he brought in multiple recruits
to secure a foundation for the program. The momentum started to swing
in their direction as they won their last 4 of 6 games. We caught up with
coach Rayford earlier today and he spoke about what clicked the second half
of the season, what type of players he wants to join his squad and what
the end game is for the team.

“You know locally we have Rico Sain. He played phenomenal for me. He came on as a leader as a captain but these guys just came together. They were tired of you know the short upcoming losses
we losing games by 3,1 but these guys took a personal challenge to say you know what your not going to continue to beat up on us like this. This offseason I just want guys that want to come to Lane College to play for coach Rayford. If you can play for me we can take this program far.
That’s why i came to Lane to put a national championship banner up not just the SIAC conference
but I believe with my recruiting tides and everything I bring to the table as far as coaching I really believe i can bring a national title to Lane College.”

coach Rayford also went on
to say he has some big time commitments
coming in and he appreciates the city of Jackson
for welcoming his family.
