
Andrew Moran has been hired as an assistant coach and director of player development to join Jai Lucas’ staff, the school announced on Friday.
Moran arrives after being the head coach at Columbus High School the past six years, winning four state championships and winning the 2025 Chipotle Nationals, amassing a 145-34 overall record.
“I am thrilled to welcome Andrew to my staff at the University of Miami,” Lucas said in a statement. “When building my staff, I wanted to prioritize hiring coaches with a proven track record of success. Andrew has consistently achieved winning at every level of his coaching career, spanning from high school to grassroots. His exceptional ability to teach the game and background in skill development make him a valuable asset to our program.”
Moran, who grew up in Houston, Texas and attended Coral Gables High School before graduating from Florida State. He launched Miami Hoop School in 2012, a skills training program that consists of camps and clinics. NBA players Tim Hardaway Jr., Tyler Herro, James Johnson, James Wiseman and Cole Anthony are among the players he has worked with.
He was also an assistant coach at Miami High and as the head coach at Miami Christian, led the Victors to a state title in 2015.
Moran is the second assistant coach on Lucas’ staff, joining Georgia’s Erik Pastrana.
