The big news in the NFL world Friday afternoon was that the New Orleans Saints‘ starting quarterback, Derek Carr, might miss the 2025 season due to a shoulder injury.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Carr is dealing with an injury that could sideline him for the entire season. The veteran quarterback is weighing his surgery options. The Saints, who won the No. 9 overall pick in the draft, are now a team in the top-10 that seems thrust like a player in the rookie quarterback market.
Shedeur Sanders has recently been projected as a possible Saints selection, and that possibility was heightened Friday after the Carr injury news.
The news immediately sparked social media, with ESPN’s Louis Riddick starting the conversation with a post on X that the Saints’ selection at No. 9 overall got much more interesting. Of course, Deion Sanders, who is never afraid to speak his mind, also chimed in.
Based on this post and recent comments from Deion Sanders about enjoying the colors black and gold, the Saints seem to be high on the list of potential NFL teams for Shedeur Sanders.
The younger Sanders had a successful two-year stint with Colorado, throwing for 7,364 yards and 64 touchdowns while completing 71.8% of his passes.
Sanders recently visited the Pittsburgh Steelers and will visit the Las Vegas Raiders next week, but perhaps a visit to New Orleans will happen sooner rather than later. It is definitely a story worth monitoring.
