NHL youth street hockey league coming to Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Forget the skates and leave the puck at home.

NHL Street is coming to West Oahu.

Kapolei Inline Hockey Arenas (KIHA) has inked a deal with the National Hockey League to bring the NHL’s youth hockey league to Hawaii.

The inaugural season kicks off May 12.

Four-person teams in two divisions, (8u and 11u) will compete in a six-game season before going head-to-head in playoffs.

Unlike regular hockey, players wear sneakers and the puck is replaced with a ball.

The deadline to register is May 10.
