College football fans and video game enthusiasts alike are waiting for the release of EA Sports’ College Football 26. Last month, EA Sports announced that participating football players will receive more for their inclusion in the video game that they did last year, increasing the payout to $1,500 along with a deluxe copy of the game. This announcement came shortly after a new company, Pathway Sports and Entertainment, announced its plan to ensure that college football players received more for their inclusion.
Pathway Sports and Entertainment developed a plan to ensure that football players who work with them receive more money. The entertainment company is also working to have the players receive royalty payments. EA Sports maintains that its decision to increase participating athletes’ compensation had nothing to do with Pathway Sports and Entertainment’s announcement. Athletes who signed with the entertainment company, however, have an opportunity to receive a total of $3,000 for their inclusion in the video game.
Last summer, college sports returned to video game consoles with the release of EA Sports College Football 25. The highly anticipated video game did not disappoint, becoming 2025’s second best-selling video game, only being beaten by Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. In fact, EA Sports College Football 25 is one of the best-selling video games of all time. With the return of the game, college athletes were given an opportunity to be compensated for their inclusion in the video game. Last year, college football players included in the game received $500 and a copy of the video game. While this was more than athletes could receive before, it was not enough considering the anticipated success of the game.
It was reported last week that Lowe’s now has a partnership with EA Sports where the game developer will feature the home improvement store’s branding in the game. The store’s branding will be featured on the broadcast overlay for the Stadium Pulse feature.
Lowe’s will also debut an “On the Road” interactive gaming experience as part of a nationwide tour during the college football and NFL seasons.
