The Nevada basketball team has added a couple of new players in the transfer portal, and has one intriguing (and somewhat familiar) high school name a possibility to join the Wolf Pack next season.
Coach Steve Alford has commitments from TayShawn Comer, who played at Evansville last season; and Elijah Price, who played at Fresno State.
The Wolf Pack also has two new coaches joining the team.
The college basketball transfer portal closes April 22, so more player moves could happen in the next few days.
The 6-foot-1 Comer, who plays guard, averaged 16.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists last season for Evansville. He hit 48-of-158 from 3-point range. The Purple Aces finished 11-21 last season, 8-12 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Price (6-9) averaged 10.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.3 steals per game for the Bulldogs.
“We’re excited to welcome Elijah to the Wolf Pack. He brings length, athleticism, and a high motor to our frontcourt,” Alford said. “Elijah has shown steady growth in his game, and we believe he’s just scratching the surface of his potential. He fits our culture, he’s hungry to compete, and we’re looking forward to helping him take the next step in his development here in Reno.”
Before joining Fresno State, Price redshirted the 2023–24 season at Drake.
Nevads has also made an offer to Kade Snyder, the son of former Wolf Pack standout Kirk Snyder. Kade Snyder (6-8, forward) is in his senior year in Phoenix.
The Wolf Pack loses Nick Davidson to the portal. He will play for Clemson next season, as will his younger brother, Blake, who had also committed to Nevada before Nick entered the portal.
Nevada’s Justin McBride and Yuto Yamanouchi-Williams are also in the transfer portal.
Nevada basketball adds coaches from Virginia, Sacramento State
Nevada is adding Lo Leath and Kyle Guy as assistant coaches.
Leath joins the Pack following a season as an assistant coach at Utah. Prior to that, he spent two years on staff at his alma mater, Sacramento State.
During his first season with the Hornets, the team posted 14 wins, the most by any first-year coaching staff in the Division I era and the third highest total in program history.
Guy played at Virginia from 2016-19, and served as a special assistant for the Cavaliers during the 2024-25 season. He was with the Cavaliers when they won the 2019 NCAA Championship.
