Auburn and Bruce Pearl are coming off a terrific 2024-25 season that saw the Tigers make it to the Final Four for only the 2nd time ever, and the first since 2019.
The Tigers are losing some of their best players, as Johni Broome, Dylan Cardwell and Miles Kelly all graduated. The transfer portal is a huge part of college basketball, as teams are looking to reload quickly. Auburn has many holes to fill, but the team has been aggressive and added another player in former Texas Tech guard Kevin Overton on Thursday afternoon.
Overton shared the news of his commitment with On3:
Overton averaged 7.8 PPG and 3.7 RPG for the Red Raiders, helping the team make it to the Elite Eight. He scored a season-high 20 points against Arizona in the Big 12 tournament. He began his career at Drake, where he averaged 11.3 PPG.
Pearl and his staff had to replace a lot of key players from last year’s team, and they have made very active bringing in guys. On Tuesday, they signed former Mississippi State forward KeShawn Murphy. They also signed JUCO star Abdul Bashir on Wednesday.
Players have until Tuesday, April 22 to enter the transfer portal. While the Tigers have done a great job recently bringing in players, don’t expect Pearl to be done looking for guys to bring to Auburn.
